‘Sach’ is life when ‘ratnas’ are so pre-occupied

Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian award. I think it is a mistake to give it to cricketers and Bollywood people merely for their fame and talent.
Doing so reduces the value of the award and there is also the potential that it is misused. I would say something similar has happened also in the case of those cricketers and Bollywood personalities nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Let me take two examples, Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. Neither of them deserves the Bharat Ratna and both have misused their fame.
Sachin is in the news these days for taking his former business partner to the corridors of power to get the matter of a property sorted out. The issue was some commercial construction being carried out near a defence area. When news was leaked of this meeting, Sachin released a statement saying he had no personal business interest in the matter. Perhaps not. But is it the job of Bharat Ratnas to peddle business interests before ministers?
To put this in perspective, we should know that Sachin spent three years in the Rajya Sabha before asking his first question. And when I say 'spent three years in the Rajya Sabha' I mean mostly outside it. A report in December, 2015 revealed that Sachin had 6% attendance in the Rajya Sabha and had not participated in a single debate. But he has time to take his friends and business partners to the defence minister to push their deals? I find it unacceptable that such a person has been given the Bharat Ratna.
After getting the Bharat Ratna Sachin continues to endorse brands like BMW. Does it suit public figures, especially ones as rich as Sachin, to do this? It's quite shameful and degrades the award.
When we give the Bharat Ratna to such people we are essentially rewarding their talent. We are not recognising their service, which is the true purpose of civilian awards. Sachin has a long history of misusing his position. When he got a Ferrari as a gift he asked the government to waive its import duty. Why should the taxpayer fund this spoilt billionaire's toys? Ultimately a court had to force him to pay. When he built a mansion in Bandra, he asked the government to make an exception for him so that he could build above the limit. Why should that be granted to him? It is selfish for him to ask when none of the rest of us ask, or get, such favours.
On June 13 this year, newspapers carried the headline 'Sachin Tendulkar donates Rs 76 lakh to Bengal school'. I was interested by the story, because it did not follow the selfish pattern of Sachin's life. It revealed that it was not his money that Sachin was 'donating'. The school was being given money from his Rajya Sabha fund, meaning it was the nation's money. This is hardly 'donating'. And he does nobody a favour in doing this.
Sachin is nothing like Muhammad Ali, a sportsman who was given civilian awards for his consistent and brave positions against injustice and racism. And Ali was willing to go to jail for his beliefs. Ever heard Sachin say anything meaningful on the issues that are so troubling in our time? No. His time is better occupied by selling us stuff.
Lata Mangeshkar was given the Bharat Ratna in 2001. A few years later she said she would move to Dubai if a flyover was built opposite her house on Pedder Road in Mumbai. She and her sister Asha Bhosle opposed it so effectively that it has still not been built. A report in April 2012 said Lata Mangeshkar had the worst attendance record in the Rajya Sabha where she had been for many years. It shows her and Tendulkar's total disinterest and I would say disregard for this nation.
Is this how a Bharat Ratna is supposed to behave? To put their individual need and selfishness above the needs of the many? It's ridiculous that such people are, as I said, rewarded for their talent and not their service.
And so far as their talent goes, haven't they been rewarded enough? They have made themselves very, very wealthy. And that is fine and right. It is how it should be. They have earned their money and their fame. They could have earned our respect by behaving in more public spirited fashion but they have chosen instead to be unconcerned on that count. They cannot even be bothered to show up in parliament. (How many times has Sachin missed a match or endorsement shoot?)
The government of the time is often seduced by fame and feels obliged to reward such people (and often there is very heavy lobbying from them) to be given these awards. This should stop. We should separate the talent of people from their service. It is only the latter that must be rewarded through national awards.

Welfare schemes of the BJP in Goa

Welfare schemes
Government spending on the population by way of welfare schemes are treated by political parties as if they are spending from their party coffers. A number of schemes floated by the BJP in Goa keeping in mind the elections are funded by the tax payers and not by the MLAs. But the party workers are made to work and do the paper work as if to show that the money spent is going from the MLAs pocket and the receiver has to be in debt to the local MLA and his ruling party.
The hype created by the BJP in Goa about the Ujala LED bulb distribution is one such a last ditch effort by one and all from top order to the last BJP party worker to project the central Government funded scheme to be their freebies to the people of Goa keeping in view of the 2017 assembly elections. The way all the top brass of the BJP is leaving important assignments and are busy distributing the lamps as if they have spent their hard earned money to buy the lamps is comical.
They must have not heard about the 13-year-old US-born Meera Vashisht  who has distributed free LED bulbs worth 2000 USD to the slum dwellers in Delhi after raising funds. This is yeomen service without any expectation. It looks like the top brass of the BJP are out of ideas to woo Goan people to vote for them in the coming 2017 elections.
All the schemes of the BJP are number based to count the number of people registered for a scheme and print the figures on the newspapers like the Medi-claim scheme where 57 k applicants are recorded but how many have taken the health card after paying Rs 300 and agreeing for a ECS of like amount to be debited from their bank yearly is the question...

Sir,

Govt spending on the population by way of welfare schemes are treated by political parties as if they are spending from their party coffers. A number of schemes floated by the BJP in Goa keeping in mind the elections are  funded by the tax payers and not by the MLA’s. But the party workers are made to work and do the paper work as if to show that the the money spent is going from the MLAs pocket and the receiver has to be in debt to the local MLA and his ruling party. The hype created by the BJP in Goa about the Ujalla led bulb distribution is one such a last ditch effort by one and all from top order to the last BJP party worker to project the central Govt funded scheme to be their freebies to the people of Goa keeping in view of the 2017 assembly elections. Priyanka Gandhi. AFP

Now that the age old party has finally agreed for a major surgery and the party is all set for the infusion of fresh air and ideas that will get the old party a young self to keep going. As stated by a prominent journalist that mr Modi is our PM because of the TINA factor (there is no alternative).but in 2014 if only the wise men in the congress had projected priyanka gandhi as the congress prime ministerial candidate things would have been different for the party. Now that she has decided to get active in politics it should boost the moral of the party workers. Here in goa too they are yet to come out and boost the moral of the party workers its high time the grandfathers give the grandsons and the granddaughters their dues give the reins to young people and see the party's revival. Getting together with the other regional parties and fighting the 2017 is the only way to see them in the command not to loot again but to correct what they have done wrong during their misrule of Goa.

Will Goa ever be free from the clutches of greedy high-handed politicians who feel that once elected they are the kings of the state and that they can do anything under the sun to this once golden Goa of ours . In a democracy there cannot be kings and queens or even princess and princesses the elected are the servants of the people  and are put in that seat of command to fulfill the wishes of the populace and not override them to secure the future of them and  their families. All politician in public service needs to first and foremost see the betterment of the people who have voted him or her to power. Goa was known as "Golden Goa" much before may be even before the introduction of BJP in the Goan or Indian politics. As years progressed Golden Goa was looted and plundered by the corrupt Politician's and now the remaining is been ruined continuously by the present Govt. in the name of development.  Once
"Golden Goa- Rome of the East" is turning into concrete jungle, rampant hill cutting , destruction of forest cover , Polluted Rivers, CRZ violations and anti social activities  are encouraged by the present govt.  favoring builders, big business houses as if there is no tomorrow. Giving away of precious comminidade lands  to migrants, to secure vote banks is favored by these politicians in the run-up to the 2017 elections.   I  fail to understand how BJP  can dream of Golden Goa by concretization and destroying the scenic beauty of Goa which is the main attraction of tourist local and international.

A prince too has his own rights and decision making authority  only problem is he is answerable to the King and his counsel (RSS). Could be the King  is not happy with the prince's adventures of visiting his roots every weekend and hence planning to handover the very important portfolio to the very incumbent Delhi man (always available) at present  handling the I&B ministry Mr Jaitely who is more precise with his figures then our ex CM who has the habit of playing to the galleries with his I know all attitude. and when it comes to punishing the culprit it is just the book fiqures and noting more comes out . take the case of the much hyped mining scam . According to the honuorable defense minister like the Mining scam of Rs 35000/-  crores the Agusta chopper deal is 36000/- crores but  Mr Parrikar is the defence minister now  and not the king CM of Goa and he just cannot come our with figures and not any proofs of the actual scam against the Gandhi's. 4th of May will be very important day when the honuorable Defense minister places the report of chronology of events pertaining to the Augusta deal  in the parliament wherein he will have to place proofs of kick backs if any and order CBI inquiry.

Right from the time of Mr Parrikar promotion as the defense minister of the country it was a known fact that a parallel govt is being run in Goa the present CM was given a free hand to take all the anti people decisions and then finally the Man who knows all will come back to Goa with solutions to all the issues in the capacity a King CM. It would have been a different case if  deputy CM was elevated to the CMs post after Mr Parrikars Exit.
