The walking pilgrimage-10.03.2019 Goa

The walk of the faithful took off from Goa Velha, Mandur, (north Goa) and from Vasco, Cansaulim, Verna, Quelossim (south  Goa) early morining at 3.00 on the 10th March 2019 being the first Sunday of the lent.  Around 23000 parishioners from different parishes walked from these centers to the  Sancoale  St Joseph Vaz Church for the Eucharistic celebration at 7.00 am. young and middle aged people were seen walking reciting the Rosary and singing hymns on the way. Archbishop of Goa Daman and Diu Filip Neri Ferrao was joined by around 150 priest of various Goan churches in the celebration of the mass. https://youtu.be/Mmzm39RQ5WI  

Volunteers, youths assisted the pilgrims all along the routes and at the venue of St Josh church. various govt. Medical help and basic facilities like drinking water and wash rooms were provided along the routes. Goa Police were posted on the roads to help in traffic control as the people were walking on the road side. a full proof security arrangements were made at the venue by the Goa Police department. This is the first time that such a big gathering of faithfuls was planned by the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and was a great success. Although the anticipation was that around 7000 people would attend as per pre- registration data the number the toll surpassed. The Convenor Fr. Alfred Vaz headed the Commitee for the Walking Pilgrimage."Jesus was always on the way. He walked the way of suffering"-the Archbishop.
